Luis Alejandro Chavez

Luis is a biostatistician whose research focuses on evaluating how new therapies are benefiting the cystic fibrosis community through statistical analysis and longitudinal data methods. He enjoys applying statistical methods to answer meaningful public health questions and contribute to collaborative research.

Luis completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Simón Bolívar University (Venezuela), a specialization in statistics at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and an MMath in statistics at Waterloo University.

His master's training focused on biostatistics and epidemiologic methods. His thesis used simulations to better understand causal inference methods in epidemiologic research. 

Luis grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and joined the team in April 2022. Outside of research, he enjoys hiking, listening to music, and exploring the outdoors.
