Jonathan Bradet-Legris

Jonathan is a 3rd year PhD student in statistics who has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Mount Allison University and a master’s degree in statistics from Dalhousie University.

Jonathan has a diverse research background ranging from undergraduate research experience in biology on ticks and Lyme disease, to abstract algebra in category theory, to applied statistics in oceanography creating species distribution models of phytoplankton. Jonathan also has work experience in health statistics as a data scientist in the Department of Health and Wellness for the NS provincial government.

He is passionate about applying statistical methods to solve real world problems, particularly related to health and climate change. For his PhD project, he is developing spatial models of air quality in Nova Scotia, using low-cost air quality monitors, that will be used to better understand how poor air quality is linked to respiratory hospitalization rates in the province.
